Location DetailsVisitors to San Francisco can pick up an Alamo hire car at the city's SFO Convention Centre. Alamo offers a fantastic range of cheap car hire deals with our excellent packages, including an extra driver completely free. We also offer a wide range of up-to-date vehicles to choose from.
One of the most famous landmarks in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge and you can give yourself and the rest of your party the memory of a lifetime by driving over it. Another interesting place to drive to while staying in the city is Fisherman's Wharf, which is a major draw for tourists with more than 10 million visiting each year.
The Fisherman's Wharf offers wonderful views of the bay, boasts museums and souvenir shops, and you will find it a treat to eat in the area's seafood restaurants.
Other places you may be tempted to jump in the car and visit are the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Six Flags Discovery Museum and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
You can happily spend an entire day at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, which is situated midway between San Francisco and Monterey. When you see the Giant Dipper, a wooden roller coaster which dates back to the mid-1920s, you will most certainly be happy that you took the drive down in your Alamo hire car. Elsewhere on the Boardwalk is a Looff carousel which dates back to the early 1900s.
Back in the city, drive down to the Embarcadero waterfront and take a look around Pier 39 - a hive of shops where you can buy souvenirs and snacks, and get a wonderful view over San Francisco Bay.
If you want to learn something about the city's seafaring history then take a trip to the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park where you will be able to look over ships dating back to the 19th century.
